  • Where is the Buddhist Center located?

    K. J. Somaiya Centre of Buddhist Studies, II Floor, Management Building ( S.I.M.S.R), Somaiya Campus, Vidyavihar, Mumbai 400 077.

  • What is the eligibility for the different courses conducted by the Institute?

    a)  For Diploma in Buddhist studies the candidate must have passed HSC (XII) of the Maharashtra

         State Board or any equivalent examination.

     

    b)  For P.G. Diploma in Buddhist studies (Two years) the candidate must be graduate from any

         discipline.

     

    c)  For Diploma in Pali the candidate must have passed the SSC (State) examination conducted

         by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education or an examination of any other

         educational body recognized as equivalent thereto or HSC (XII) exam conducted by Higher

         Secondary Education, Pune/Mumbai/Aurangabad/Nagpur/ Kolhapur division or an examination

         recognized by University of equivalent thereto.

     

    d)  For P.G. Diploma in Pali must have passed the Diploma Course in Pali.

     

    e)  For Diploma Course in Foundation of Yoga the candidate must have passed the SSC (State)

         examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education, Pune or

         any examination recognized by the Mumbai University.

     

    f)   For Advance Diploma in Yoga the candidate must have passed the Diploma Course in

         Foundation of Yoga recognized by Mumbai University.

     

    g)  For the Diploma in Manuscriptology the eligibility is F.Y. B.A.

     

  • When do the Diploma and P.G. Diploma courses in Pali and Buddhist studies commence?

    These are weekend part-time, ten month programmes. Commences from July to March every year.

  • When do the Foreign Language courses commence?

     a) The Japanese Language course starts from February to November.

     b) The Chinese Language course starts in August and January.

     c) The French Language course starts in April and August.

     d) The Spanish Language course starts in March and July.

  • Recognition of courses by which body ?

    a) The Diploma and P.G courses in Buddhist Studies are recognized by University of Mumbai.

        The Diploma and Advanced courses in Yoga are recognized by University of Mumbai.

        The Diploma in Pali is recognized by University of Mumbai.

        

    b) The Japanese Language Course is recognized by Japan Foundation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs,

         Govt. of Japan.

     

    c) Syllabus for the Chinese Language course syllabus is recommended by Chinese Consulate.

     

    d) The remaining courses are conducted and Certificate awarded by the Institute on successful

        completion.
