Post Graduation with at least 55% marks equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA) in (Ancient Indian Culture, Pali, Sanskrit or Philosophy), PET or NET (A.I.C., Pali, Sanskrit & Philosophy) or M. Phil.

5% relaxation for reserved category students of Maharashtra State only.
PET Examination (Conducted by University of Mumbai)

The Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET) will be conducted on the 02nd Saturday of July/August by the University of Mumbai at various centres.

The candidates fulfilling one of the following conditions will be exempted from entrance examination:

Qualified in NET/SET/JRF/SRF Examinations.

M. Phil degree completed from any Statutory Recognized University in a relevant subject.

The list of successful candidates will be declared on the University website www.mu.ac.in within twenty – five (25) days from the date of the Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET).

Successful candidates are then required to take an interview with will then be eligible to apply for registration for Ph.D.

A candidate satisfying one or more of the eligibility criteria as per the rules does not guarantee admission into Ph. D. programme. The Ph. D. admission is subject to the availability of vacancies with the Research Supervisors in the concerned Department, candidate academic record, the performance of the candidate in the Ph. D. admission interview.
